MAWLP

Medically Assisted Weight Loss Programme.

A structured, clinician-led programme combining assessment, monitoring and ongoing support — delivered by our GP and nursing team at Bellview Clinic.

MAWLP at Bellview Clinic is built around safe, evidence-based medical care. Each patient receives an initial GP consultation, a personalised plan, and structured follow-up appointments to monitor progress and adjust treatment.

The programme is suitable for adults seeking long-term, medically supported weight management. We focus on responsible care — outcomes vary, and your clinician will discuss what is realistic for you.

  • Comprehensive medical assessment
  • Personalised treatment plan
  • Regular GP-led follow-up
  • Lifestyle and behavioural support
  • Patient portal for questionnaires and forms
  • Coordinated record of care

To begin: new patients complete our registration form and tick 'enrol in MAWLP'. Existing patients can book a pre-screening consult directly, or request patient portal access and tick 'enrol in MAWLP'. Fees are discussed at the pre-screening consultation and can also be accessed here.

Programme journey

A clinician-led pathway from screening through ongoing follow-up.

  1. Step 1

    Register as a patient

If you're not already a patient of the practice, complete our new patient registration form and tick 'enrol in MAWLP'. Existing patients can book directly, or request patient portal access and tick 'enrol in MAWLP'.

  2. Step 2

    Pre-screening consult

A short consult to confirm you meet the clinical indications for the medication. You'll receive a starter pack of information and questionnaires to complete — these can also be filled in through the patient portal.

  3. Step 3

    Consenting consult with GP

Your GP reviews your questionnaires and assessment, discusses treatment options, side effects, contraindications and red flags, and completes the consent form together with you.

  4. Step 4

    Regular follow-up

Structured follow-up reviews with the GP and/or nurse to monitor progress and tolerance, screen for side effects, adjust dose, and order or review bloods where applicable. MAWLP is not covered by the GMS (Medical card).
