Welcome to Bellview Clinic.

The management and staff at Bellview Clinic would like to welcome you to our practices across Westmeath and Longford. Our mission is to provide you with gold standard family medical care.

In order for us to deliver the best possible care, we would like to draw your attention to the following:

  1. 1Bellview Clinic is an expanding group practice. All our General Practitioners share in the care of all patients at various times, supported by quality practice nurses, PCAs and administrative staff. As a group practice, we are better placed to ensure that all urgent medical matters can be dealt with on the same day. You are welcome to request an appointment with a specific doctor, but another doctor may see you when your requested doctor is fully booked — this is a core value in a group practice and is important to understand when you join us.
  2. 2You will be eligible for medical card services by this practice once we receive approval from the HSE of your eligibility. Your attendances up to this point will be in a private capacity and charged appropriately as per our fee schedule. This is available at the front desk and is subject to regular update and change. All fees are payable on the day.
  3. 3We provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services within the practice. However, not all of our services are covered by the medical card scheme. Please check with medical staff to ensure you are covered for a particular service in advance of booking. If there is a medical need for any of the excluded services, you will be advised of the charge beforehand or may choose to be referred publicly for this service.
  4. 4All patients must check in at reception on arrival and check out with reception on departure.
  5. 5All charges must be completed on the day of consultation.
  6. 6Consultations are by appointment only and must be booked in advance. We require 24 hours' notice of any cancellation by phone or by emailing info@bellviewclinic.ie out of hours / weekends. Failure to attend an appointment after booking and failing to ring to cancel is a serious issue compromising patient care and will result in a €30 non-attendance (DNA) fee. Any patient who DNAs on 3 occasions will be asked to transfer away from this practice.
  7. 7We require 72 hours' notice for any repeat prescriptions or certificates. Report forms and other documents will require two weeks for completion.
  8. 8Our opening hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. In the event of an urgent medical matter outside these times, please contact MIDOC on 1850 302 702.
  9. 9Our practice is founded on mutual respect. Our team of doctors, nurses and staff will be respectful, courteous and helpful at all times. Patients who disrespect our staff and/or fail to comply with our Practice Guidelines will be asked to find another practice for their care. You will be notified in writing when difficulties arise.
  10. 10If you have any feedback or complaint about the services we provide, please give us the opportunity to address these by outlining them in writing and we will deal with them promptly. You will receive a letter to confirm your comment or complaint has been received and we will reply to you fully within six weeks. Please ask for our complaint policy.
  11. 11We endeavour to see all our patients at the appointment time. Please arrive on time and give yourself plenty of time so that you are not under pressure if we are running late. Given the nature and unpredictability of medical work this is not always possible. We will advise you on arrival of any significant delays and appreciate your patience.
  12. 12Patients with urgent medical illness, especially children, will be prioritised to be seen on the same day. Where a medical emergency arises that cannot be dealt with immediately within the practice, you may be advised or decide to attend A&E directly.
  13. 13Routine appointments are 15 minutes. Please ask for a longer appointment in circumstances where you require longer consultation times. There may be an additional charge for this service. If during a routine appointment it is clear that not all matters can be dealt with in the time provided, your doctor will schedule a follow-up meeting and recommend an appropriate consultation time.
  14. 14New patients to the practice will be allocated a 30-minute appointment time with the doctor for their first visit.
  15. 15Please provide as much information about your needs when booking an appointment (e.g. bloods or vaccinations) to the administrative staff, so as to allow us to prepare for you and better care for those needs.
  16. 16In circumstances where you cannot get an appointment, and you feel your difficulties are urgent, please explain this to the administrative staff. If for some reason we cannot see you at your chosen time or deal with your complaint urgently, you may be asked to attend and be seen by the first member of staff available, or you may be advised to attend A&E directly.
  17. 17Where investigations and tests are performed within the practice, you will be contacted in circumstances where there is a significant abnormality. We do not contact patients where results are not clinically significant. If you need confirmation of test results, please feel free to request a copy of these results or book an appointment to discuss them with a member of medical staff. We do not provide test results over the phone in any circumstances.
